Vor einiger Zeit schon gab es Gerüchte, dass “Der Soldat James Ryan” in diesem Frühjahr auf Blu-ray Disc erscheinen soll. In den UK ist die Blu-ray Disc jetzt über Amazon.co.uk vorbestellbar und wird mit dem 26. April als Veröffentlichungs-datum gelistet. Im deutschen und amerikanischen Amazon Store gibt es noch keine genauen Release-Daten und auch vorbestellen kann man die Blu-ray noch nicht.

Doch Amazon.co.uk hat nicht nur ein Cover zu bieten, was nebenher auch noch eine 2-Disc Edition zeigt, sondern es ist auch schon das erste Bonusmaterial für die Blu-ray Disc mit angegeben. Insgesamt sollen die Extras und Features von “Der Soldat James Ryan” knapp 200 Minuten lang sein, allerdings scheinen nur die beiden Trailer in HD-Qualität vorzuliegen.

  • Boot Camp (7:35 min.): Memories from the cast about the intense boot camp they went through with Captain Dale Dye.
  • Making Saving Private Ryan (22:01 min.): Steven Spielberg and his collaborators discuss the look of the film, the production design, the costumes and the photography.
  • Re-Creating Omaha Beach (17:55 min.): A look at how the filmmakers re-created this historical event.
  • Music and Sound (15:56 min.): Discussion with the team that edited, scored and brought sound to the film.
  • Parting Thoughts (3:41 min.): Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks share their final thoughts on the experience of making the film.

Wenn auch im Moment nicht klar ist, ob das Blu-ray Cover nicht eine Vorab-Version ist, so scheinen die Angaben der Extras glaubwürdig zu sein. Sobald es News zu dem deutschen Blu-ray Disc von “Der Soldat James Ryan” gibt, werde ich euch auf dem Laufenden halten.

Update: Mittlerweile sind noch mehr Details zu den Extras in den USA bekannt geworden. Die einzelnen Details zu den Bonusfeatures habe ich oben ergänzt. Bei Amazon wird der Titel mittlerweile mit einem Platzhalter gelistet, kann aber nach wie vor nicht vorbestellt werden - auch ein Release-Datum für Deutschland steht noch nicht fest.
